Introduction
For over ten years, LogoSportswear has been making all types of custom banner sign sizes, colors and
shapes. Some of the key questions to consider when purchasing a banner are what type of banner do I
need? What are the factors that determine the size of the banner needed? And how do I install my
banner?. We examine these questions and offer you information about the basic banner types we offer:
Full Color Digital Banners or
Cut Vinyl Banners.

It used to be too expensive to print full color on large formats like banners. Digital printing
technology has spawned new cost effective ways to print full color banners and achieve maximum
impact. Our digital printers provide great color resolution at a reasonable price. Our
state-of-the-art digital printers print your graphics in large formats and at sharp resolutions.
If you would like to have computer generated artwork or photos reproduced or want to offer
multiple colors this process is for you. According to Marketing Insights, color increases visibility
and recall by up to 40%. For digital full color banners, artwork can be supplied in bitmap images
at the size you wish the banner to be in a resolution of 150 dpi or higher. We also have banner backgrounds
and photo clipart that is available for you to combine with text to make your full color banner sign
stand out.

Generally for basic banners needs, cut vinyl banners can give you your best bang for the buck. Using
your vector artwork or using our layout designers, you'll be assured that this custom vinyl banner
gets noticed. Computer cut vinyl banners are "adhesive backed vinyl stickers" cut into a particular
shape. A computer plotter is used instead of templates or dies and cuts adhesive vinyl using the
computer cutter. The lettering/graphics are then transferred by hand and applied to the vinyl banner
material.
If you are looking to do a banner with basic text and one of two colors then this banner can be
the least expensive. For vinyl-cut graphics, artwork will be made into vectors (i.e. outlines,
curves). We prefer artwork in this format. These files are often are created in CorelDRAW or
Adobe Illustrator and have file extensions such as .eps, .ai, and .cdr.
How Are Banners Priced? Simple vs. Complex Designs
One of the first things you need to know about banner making is that size matters - the larger the
banner the greater the expense! There are different methods of banner making where the quantity made
or the complexity of the artwork will determine whether digital or cut vinyl is most cost effective.
We sell digital full color banners by the square foot. For cut vinyl banners, our simplified custom
banner and sign pricing system breaks down lettering and sign pricing between simple and complex
designs. Simple designs are generally basic lettering and one-color signs while complex designs include
a logo or graphics and can be up to 3-colors. Choose the simple or complex option appropriate to your
graphics need and then proceed to checkout. For vinyl-cut graphics, artwork will be made into vectors

Custom Banner Design Tips
One of the more difficult creative challenges is designing a vinyl banner from scratch. We can help
you overcome blank page syndrome when it comes to creating a memorable custom banner design. The first
and most important thing to remember is to abide by the K.I.S.S. principal. Since the primary goal of a
custom banner is to grab the viewer's attention and then communicate a message, the vinyl banner should be
readable and visually attractive.
The first step towards a great banner design idea is to know what you want to say. Don't forge into a design
without a clear destination in mind. Write a brief description of your purpose and jot down a few things that
will help you accomplish it.
Keep your custom banner design simple and legible. We recommend you generate ideas for you designs by visiting
events and small businesses, browsing magazines, online clip art libraries (see above) - even searching the web
for a key phrase description of what you want on your vinyl banner design.
In most cases, the farther away you can read your advertisement the better. Always ask yourself, "How far away
will the banner be from the viewer?" For instance, if a Grand Opening banner will be on the front of a business
with a large parking lot between the storefront and the street, the letter height must be large enough to be
viewed by drivers on the street. Also, keep in mind that a driver only has about 1.5 - 3 seconds to read a
message while in motion. Some good color selections are white with any dark vinyl color and yellow with
black. The key is to choose colors that sharply contrast each other so as to leap off the custom banner
design. If you're set on using dark combinations, like red on black, consider outlining the edge of your letters
in white. This technique allows for separation between the colors and will attract your audience's eye much better.
Choose a shape that fits your vinyl banner design's intended concept. If you are designing a banner with long
rows of text, then opt for a long rectangular sign to accommodate your lettering. Do not attempt to squeeze it
all in on a square banner. Doing so will force you to use smaller letters and will result in a lot of wasted
space. The same rule of thumb applies if your intended custom banner design requires several short rows of text,
one on top of the other. In this instance, opt for a sign shaped to fit your lettering.
One final piece of advice is to not get carried away with information overload. Remember the K.I.S.S. principal
and give your audience only the details they need. The more you try to squeeze into your design, the more it
detracts from the sign's effectiveness.

Chart To Consider Viewing Distance
Banner size depends on factors such as limits on the amount of space available, distance from the
intended reader (see our visibility /readability chart), and banner budget.
Always ask yourself, "How far away will the banner be from the viewer?" For instance, if a Grand Opening
banner will be on the front of a business with a large parking lot between the storefront and the street,
the letter height must be large enough to be viewed by drivers on the street. Also, keep in mind that a
driver only has about 1.5 - 3 seconds to read a message while in motion. The chart below will help you
determine the correct height vs. viewing distance.
Banner Installation
Our banners come with attached grommets every 2 feet along their width so you can securely mount them
to a variety of surfaces. You can either mount your banner directly to a wall using screws and washers,
or you can run a rope through the grommets and attach your banner to two poles. If you are in an extremely
windy area, be sure to secure the banner through all of the grommets. Banner And Sign Track Kit can be
purchased separately. This Banner Trak eliminates sagging and keeps banners straight and true.
Custom Banners
Outdoor banners can be fastended against a building with screws and washers through the grommets. Against
a chain link fence, fasten through the grommets with nylon ties or wire. To tie between posts or trees,
thread stitched rope threaded through entire banner length so that you can tie up and install by pulling
on the rope. Indoor banners in most cases are easy to install, as they are placed in locations where they
are viewed close up. For permanent indoor digital print banners installations, wall mounting is a relatively
simple process. You can wall mount their banners by use of woodscrews through washers and grommets. Temporary
installations are very common for indoor banners and include tradeshows, sporting events, and career fairs. Hook
and loop velcro fastener can be installed on your banner to make a simple and easy install. S-hooks are used to
hang temporary banners from above, with preinstalled grommets. Additional temporary banner installation options
include pole pockets with wood dowels or PVC rods.
