Sales of digital cameras continue to grow. IDC reports that people are taking more shots than ever - an average of 75
images per month, up from about 50 per month last year. The number of cameraphones sold almost doubled in 2005 and will
explode soon as new 3-5 megapixel cameraphones will soon take over the market. Some are even forecasting that every
American will have a cameraphone by 2010.
Many of you have already created a "digital shoebox" of photos on your PC (or photo storing site). Forrester says sharing
photos via email is actually the fourth most popular online activity. These photos can not only be shared electronically
but can be printed and displayed in many innovative, new formats. Another popular activity is printing photos on merchandise.
Any computer or digital camera creation can now be printed photo merchandise with state-of-the-art digital printers, in
large formats, at incredibly sharp resolutions. Companies can get photos on merchandise for company achievements, sales
meetings, and golf tournaments. Families can put print photo merchandise for graduations, anniversaries, family get

We can offer you some tips in creating the best printed photo merchandise but first a little about digital cameras. When
dealing with your digital camera, you hear about the terms "pixel" and "megapixel." Pixel is short for picture element and
refers to the tiny "cells" that gather information in the camera. The term "megapixel" simple means one million pixels. The
higher the number of pixels, the better the resolution. The higher the resolution, the larger and higher quality prints you
can make.
Your camera will allow you to adjust your image quality, so your memory card can contain both high resolution and
low-resolution images. Use high resolution when you want to make larger photos on merchandise. Digital cameras will compress
pictures you take so more can fit on your memory card. The higher the compression you use, the lower the picture quality
of the image. A good rule of thumb when shooting pictures for printed photo merchandise is to set your camera at the highest
resolution setting and the lowest compression setting when you are looking to have the best photos on merchandise.
For t-shirts and most of our photo printed merchandise, 3-5 megapixel cameras will produce good quality. If you want large
format prints like posters or banners 5-6 megapixels are suggested. Our state-of-the-art digital printers print your photos
on merchandise in large formats and at sharp resolutions. For printed photo merchandise, artwork can be supplied in bitmap
images at the size you wish the product to be, preferably in a resolution of 150 dpi or higher. We also have photo clipart
that is available for you to combine with text to make your printed photo merchandise stand out.
