It is a shame that Tiger Woods will have to sit out the rest of the golf season to mend his knee. I will miss watching him, especially at the last two majors of the year, the British Open and the PGA Championship. Watching Tiger grind and gut it out to win the U.S. Open just adds to his legend–not only in golf but in all of sport. His incredible mental toughness and grounded, caring personality is a huge asset to Nike, a company whose mission is to align itself with winning athletes and products.
Tiger’s unmatched mental strength is passed down by his late father, Earl Woods. In Nike’s new ad that aired last weekend during the Open, Earl tells Tiger “that you’ll never meet another person as mentally tough as you in your entire life.’ And he hasn’t.
